Create a romantic and pretty bedroom

Using a simple palette of creams and feminine florals is a great way to create a romantic and pretty bedroom.

Selecting the fabrics

I would start this scheme by selecting a pretty floral fabric. This fabric would have a cream base with country flowers such as pink or red roses on it. I would use this fabric for curtains and cushions. Next I would select a contrast stripe fabric, in the same colours to use for a bed scarf, more cushions and perhaps a roman blind.

For the walls choose a rich cream colour which tones with the base colour on the fabric.  Furniture would be best also in a cream colour. To update an existing chest of drawers choose new knobs. A cream carpet  would work best in this scheme as it would add a cosy and warm feel to the room.  Place rugs in reds and pinks by the side of the bed to add texture and colour.  Pile cushions in the floral fabric, striped fabric and cream to add a touch of luxury to your bed. Bed linen is best in a crisp white cotton, perhaps trimmed with lace or with a pintuck design.

Using creams

Using creams

Although this is a mainly cream colour scheme by using creams in different tones from a very rich cream to an almost off white colour and by introducing different textures, in flooring, walls and cushions this scheme will not be bland.  Introducing a pastel floral pattern fabric and stripes will also add interest to the bedroom scheme.  As well as looking pretty, this palette of colours will create a relaxing feel - ideal for a bedroom.

For the lighting a pretty glass chandelier would look stunning , add bedside lamps for reading and candles for a romantic ambience!

Look for  vintage glassware to use on a dressing table, some pieces can be picked up cheaply at antique markets or car boot sales. Glass trays and bowls can be used to display jewellery and scent bottles add pretty touch.  Also look for old picture frames that you can customise yourself.  To create a distressed frame.  Paint the frame and then use sandpaper to lightly sand the edges to create a distressed look.  Find a suitable print and hang on the wall!

Although I've chosen a cream and pink colour scheme if you prefer you could look for fabrics with different colour flowers such as blues or yellows.

By following these simple tips you will be able to create a romantic and pretty bedroom.
