What is OEX-TEX-100?

What is OEX-TEX-100?

OEKO-TEX-100 is a globally standardized certification that means the product is completely free from harmful chemicals and therefore harmless to human health.

In order to be OEKO-TEX-100 certified, every production stage and component of the fabric must comply with the standard and is free from harmful substances, including the dyes, sewing threads and prints.

We are proud to have a number of fabrics that are OEX-TEX-100 certified. If you’re looking for a plain fabric, our Chedworth Natural fabric is the perfect choice, and suitable for curtains, blinds or occasional upholstery with a Martindale score of 15,000. Eco-friendly fabrics don’t have to be plain, we’ve got a number of colourful options which are also OEX-TEX-100 certified including our unmissable upholstery jacquard fabrics such as the Crouching Tiger fabric.

What is the Better Cotton Initiative?

What is the Better Cotton Initiative?

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global organisation and is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world, with the main aim of transforming cotton production worldwide by developing better cotton as a sustainable mainstream commodity.

This has been achieved by boosting the sustainability of cotton by interacting with the whole supply chain on how cotton is sourced. Reducing the environmental impact of cotton production, improving livelihoods and economic development in cotton production areas, improving commitment to and flow of better cotton throughout the supply chain and for the sector's future.

One of our most popular fabric collections, Imprint, is part of the BCI that features beautiful nature inspired designs such as The Oak Leaf fabric and Great Oak fabric. Also within this collection, if you’re looking for a more contemporary fabric the uplifting spotty fabric and the classic Rowing Stripe fabric, all available in a range of colours to suit your home.

What is Global Recycled Standard?

What is Global Recycled Standard?

Global Recycled Standard is a product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. This standard applies to the full supply chain which addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements and chemical content labelling. The standard covers processing, manufacturing, packaging and distribution of all products made with a minimum of 20% recycled materials. The goal of Global Recycled Standard is to increase the use of recycled materials in products and reduce or eliminate the harm caused by its production.

The JF Recycled Linen fabric is verified to Global Recycled Standard, this has been made with certified 100% preconsumer recycled linen having been manufactured using short fibre blends coming from linen mills and fibres from textile industry waste. This linen is a great eco friendly choice and is available in a wide range of colours that are suitable for making into curtains, blinds and cushions.
