Soft whites and gentle lighting for a timeless look
When choosing winter fabrics, you shouldn’t feel limited to the traditionally warm shades of red, plum and burnt orange. Used well, winter white fabric can make your scheme calm, cosy and welcoming.
For an all-white scheme, it’s important to consider the tone of your paint and the lighting in your room. Brilliant white paint is normally too harsh, so consider using a softer antique white or one with a touch of pink, yellow or blue. Adding gentle lighting with lamps, fairy lights and candles adds cosiness and will transform your white scheme into something really special.
For curtains and upholstery, look for an off white fabric with a self-pattern or subtle stripe. Velvet or chenille are great winter fabrics for adding softness too.
