It also has excellent flexibility and will return to its natural shape, even if it’s been stretched up to 30%. 3. Wool is Low Maintenance
The structure of the wool fibres mean that dirt doesn’t penetrate the fabric, but sits on top, making it extremely easy to clean with a vacuum and very low-maintenance. The fibres also adjust to the temperature and humidity of the room, which deters dust mites from nesting in the fabric.
4. Wool Will Keep You Warm or Cool
Wool fabric is well-known for its insulating properties. With low thermal conductivity, it’s great for both hot and cold weather. In the UK, it’s especially popular for curtains and blinds as it dramatically reduces the draught felt from single-glazed traditional windows, especially when combined with an interlining or thermal lining.
5. Wool Fabric is Eco-Friendly
Wool fabric has great eco-credentials – every year sheep produce a new fleece, making wool the ideal renewable fibre source for your interiors.
The Campaign For Wool was launched by Prince Charles in 2010 to promote the environmental benefits of this natural, renewable and biodegradable fabric and since its launch there’s been a large increase in the price farmers receive for their wool.
